AIDT launched a maritime training program in Mobile, Alabama in 2007 to provide job seekers with qualifications and skills needed to join the growing maritime industry. Austal USA, BAE Systems, C&G Boatworks, and Signal International are working with AIDT to expand maritime training to help meet their employment requirements.
In June 2009, AIDT broke ground for The Maritime Training Center with construction beginning in July 2009. The center officially opened on November 8, 2010. Our 67,000 square foot facility features classrooms, computer labs, an electrical lab, and a non-destructive testing lab. Our state-of-the-art assembly room has the capacity to host over 200 guests. On the shop floor, there are 60 welding booths, a CNC plasma table, a sub-arc welder, a track welder, and a large lay-down yard with overhead crane access. We also have a counter-balanced rough terrain forklift, man-lift, scaffold building, and a 10-ton overhead crane and rigging for safety training.
The AIDT Maritime Training Center is available to all maritime and industrial companies and offers instruction in industry standards, upgraded technologies, and custom training.
